This blog is about Pratibha (29), daughter of Mr. Rajeev S, and her response to a sudden change at home. She is attached to her mother, and now for the first time will have to live without her for a long period.
She loves cooking! Breakfast is a spread of south Indian delight of idli, dosa, chutney and sambar, while the lunch comprises of rice, dal or sambar and a vegetable. Every day after dinner, she makes a ‘to-do’ list with Mr. Rajeev for the next day.

Pratibha was diagnosed with mild Intellectual Disability at the age of 2. She showed signs of aggression, hyperactivity, loud sounds, height, fear of animals, disturbed sleep patterns, throwing tantrums, lack of social interaction and irrelevant emotional behaviour. Her parents approached, Dr Alok Sharma and Dr Nandini Gokulchandran at Neurogen Brain and Spine Institute for consultation about stem cells. After the meeting, they decided that Pratibha should undergo stem cell therapy.

Post cell stem treatment that involved a number of sessions, Pratibha showed progress in her condition. Of late, she presented 4 Sitar stage shows (3 in Kochi and one in Trivandrum) during this Navratri.  She is now able to perform ‘raagas’ that last for 10 to 30 minutes and also a couple of small ‘dhuns’.

Mr. Rajeev S is proud to say that she is now the ‘lady’ of the house! After completing the daily tasks, she also gets time to playing Sudoku, puzzle games apart from enjoying the comic strip in the newspaper.
